SUMMARY:Birding Irving Nature Park with Hank Scarth
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a birding walk with Hank Scarth at the Irving Nature Park! \nWe’ll start on the Broken Ankle Trail (you’ll have to join us to hear the story behind the name)\, making our way to the lagoons\, Children’s Forest Road\, Sheldon Head Trail\, and down to the marsh and boardwalk. \nThis walk is rated moderate\, covering 4–5 km with uneven terrain\, potentially wet areas\, and one uphill climb. Sturdy\, waterproof footwear is advised. \nAll experience levels are welcome whether you’re brand new or have been birding for years. Hank is great at helping people learn birds by both sight and sound. \nWe’ll see some of our regulars like chickadees and Blue Jays\, spot some waterfowl like American Wigeon\, and hopefully catch some migrants like Yellow Warbler\, American Redstart and more. \nWe’ll have a few binoculars available for those who are new. \nFree event\, but registration is required and spots are limited.

SUMMARY:Birding K-Park Lagoons/Bishops Lands Trail with Hank Scarth
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a birding walk with Hank Scarth at the K-Park Lagoons & the adjacent Bishop’s Lands trail. \nThis walk explores a great birding hotspot. The trail system includes diverse habitats that harbour a diversity of warblers (16 species noted in recent visits)\, woodpeckers\, flycatchers\, thrushes\, raptors\, etc. The lagoons can have several species of ducks plus shorebirds\, flycatchers\, swallows\, etc. \nThe trail system has some ups and downs and is somewhat uneven and rocky in places so sturdy footwear is encouraged. Expect to cover 3-4 kilometres. \nAll experience levels are welcome whether you’re brand new or have been birding for years. Hank is great at helping people learn birds by both sight and sound. \nWe’ll see some of our regulars like chickadees and Blue Jays\, and hopefully catch some migrants like Yellow-rumped Warblers or Northern Parulas. \nThere’s always a chance for something interesting! \nWe’ll have a few binoculars available for those who are new. \nFree event\, but registration is required and spots are limited.
