SUMMARY:Gull ID Workshop with Nelson Poirier and Richard Blacquiere
DESCRIPTION:It’s the absolute prime time of year to do some gull watching with our year-round resident gulls having just put on fresh plumage and our two northern species\, the Iceland and Glaucous Gulls\, having just/about to join us for the winter. Surprises are always a bonus. \nSometimes it may seem a bit confusing to identify the different species in their different year plumages\, but then again\, maybe not if you go about it with a plan.\nNelson Poirier and copilot Richard Blacquiere do not profess to be gull experts but do have a plan and are willing to share it with thoughts\, images\, and audience participation. It is hoped a good number of folks can attend as Nelson and Richard would very much appreciate group input to make it a fun learning session for all\, including the presenters. We’ll pay short calls on potential gull visitors as well. \nJoin us\, learn\, contribute\, and be ready for great gull watching over the winter\, and have them on a first-name basis. \nWe’ll spend ample time in the warmth of the “classroom” getting the identification plan firmly in place. \nBring along warm clothing for a field outing\, just in case some gulls are nearby to test us. Bring lunch and lots of contagious enthusiasm to share.
