Counts
Flats
- The number of “peeps” feeding was estimated at 475. There were also 7 Black-Bellied Plovers.
- Other birds included: 116 Gulls, 5 Great Blue Herons, 9 Cormorants, 5 Eiders, 1 Turkey Vulture, 9 Black Ducks, and 52 waterfowl too distant to identify.
Main Beach
- Shorebirds roosting: 64 Semipalmated Plovers, 261 Semipalmated Sandpipers, 1 Sanderling, 1 Least Sandpiper, 1 Red Knot, and 12 Dunlin.
- Other birds included 6 Gulls, 1 Red-Throated Loon, 4 Green-Winged Teal, and 2 Peregrine Falcons.
- There were 19 people on the beach and 2 leashed dogs. 9 people were spoken to about the birds and seemed interested.
East Beach
- Shorebirds roosting: 54 Semipalmated Plovers, 63 Semipalmated Sandpipers, and 6 Dunlin.
- 1 person was seen on the beach and was spoken to about the shorebirds.
Marsh
- Only 1 unidentified shorebird was seen flying through the marsh.
- Other birds seen included: 6 Great Egrets, 11 Black Ducks, 48 Gulls, 10 Canada Geese, 2 Crows, 7 Great Blue Herons, 1 Cormorant, 2 Common Eiders, and 1 Green-Winged Teal.
