The New Normal: White Sharks in Atlantic Canada

Join us for our September monthly meeting! This presentation will explore the history of white sharks in the Maritimes, how our relationship with these animals has changed over time, and what recent encounters can tell us about their behaviour. Dr. Harvey-Clark will also share findings from his research using photographs to identify individual sharks and track their movements.
From 2019 to 2025, Dr. Harvey-Clark studied white sharks in Nova Scotia, identifying 60 individual sharks and tagging three. His research also documented several unusual human-shark interactions, giving us new insights into these often misunderstood animals.
