Join our mission of protecting shorebirds and their habitats by promoting awareness and education. By helping beach visitors understand the importance of leashing dogs and respecting resting areas, you play a direct role in shorebird conservation.

Responsibilities
  • Engage respectfully with beach visitors
  • Promote awareness about shorebird habitat protection
  • Explain the importance of leashing dogs and maintaining safe distances from resting birds
  • Encourage positive, conservation-minded behaviour
Qualifications
  • Comfortable speaking with members of the public
  • Friendly, respectful, and approachable
  • Passionate about wildlife conservation
  • No prior experience required (training provided)
Training & Gear
  • A training session is provided prior to the season
  • Volunteers are loaned an official ID vest to wear during shifts
  • Volunteers are loaned a pair of binoculars during shifts
  • Each volunteer receives a “Shorebird of the Year” ball cap to keep as a thank-you

Time Commitment
Weekend shifts are 2.5 hours long. Volunteers may choose as few or as many shifts as they like during the season.
