February Meeting: Winter Sky Treats with Chris Curwin

Join Chris Curwin for an astronomy presentation exploring the winter sky, including the most prominent constellations, planets and other interesting seasonal sights.

Chris Curwin is an amateur astronomer from Saint John. He has been a member of the Saint John Astronomy Club and Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) NB for 20 years.

Chris offers outreach primarily through schools, youth groups, seniors and sidewalk astronomy for the public. In 2019, he was awarded the RASC Qilak award for excellence in astronomy outreach in Canada. He works with two other members of RASC, Mike Powel and Paul Owen, to offer a live weekly astronomy outreach program called the Sunday Night Astronomy Show, which is now in its 7th season. For offering the program, they were recently honored by having an asteroid named after them!

Chris is also the creator of the social media channel known as Astronomy by the Bay with approximately 30,000 followers, with the Facebook page celebrating its 10th anniversary on Feb 1st.
