Continuous counting recorded in 15 minute blocks (the standard protocol is 15 minutes of observations followed by 15 minutes of rest)
Very little activity and relatively few parked birds were observed this morning.
Seabird counts: Eastbound 251, Westbound 106 (standard count periods); Eastbound 184, Westbound 76 (rest/break periods)

Species observed over the bay: Common Eider, Black, Surf, and White-winged Scoters, Red-breasted Merganser, Canada Goose, Brant, Harlequin, American Black and Long-tailed Ducks, Northern Shoveler, American Wigeon, Common Goldeneye, Common and Red-throated Loon, Great and Double-crested Cormorant, Black Guillemot, Razorbill, American Herring, Great Black-backed, and Ring-billed Gulls, Northern Gannet, Purple Sandpiper
Parked birds: 22 Common Eider, 119 Black Scoter, 10 Harlequin Duck, Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Common Loon, Red-throated Loon, 3 Black Guillemot, 5 Razorbill, Purple Sandpiper 12
A Merlin was observed in the inter-tidal zone this morning. Five Song Sparrows consumed seed in from of the building. A Ruffed Grouse was observed near the privy.

Afternoon Report
From Noon to 4:00 PM
Weather: Clear, Beaufort (Bf) 3 ,Winds started NW and swung around to the SW. 4 Deg Celsius and Calm seas for most of the afternoon , changing to moderate swell around 3pm.. Visibility 38 kim . Tide low at Noon and flooding at 4pm

Total birds seen East 176, West 15
Species observed over the bay:
Common Eider, Black Scoter, Surf Scoter, Red-breasted Merganser, Harlequin Duck, Long-tailed Duck,Common Loon, Black Guillemot, Razorbill, Ring-billed Gull, American Herring Gull, Glacous Gull, Double-crested Cormorant, Horned Grebe,Red-necked Grebe,Common Murre, and Purple Sandpipers
3 Song Sparrow by the seed, 3 crows flying nearby, male Northern Harrier and a couple of porpoises and a 2 seal were seen.
It was very slow movement of birds but we did have calm seas allowing for good views of parked birds and the chance to learn more about bird ID.
