Boardwalk

Notes / Comments (Boardwalk):
I arrived early hoping to get some extra time counting birds at the boardwalk, but didn’t realize it was a 7.8m high tide. The boardwalk was the hub of activity for all species, it was extremely busy with flocks of birds moving all directions, the tide being high flooded most of the ground making the marsh into a lake, this had many species clinging to small islands near and on the boardwalk. I stayed longer on the boardwalk due to the activity not ceasing as the tide came in. I stopped the ebird but stayed longer due to increase in activity, the species continued to increase which I added to ebird, likely will need to go back and change period I was on site.
East Beach

Due to 7.8m high tide, we are holding off walking each beach till tide level is lower due to being cut off at high tide.
Main Beach

The beach was almost vacant of birds, there was a flock of 65 peeps that when we came onto the beach flew over into the marsh. The only other birds on the beach were some gulls down towards Taylor Island, we found evidence of cutbait on the beach, I’ve attached a photo.
Marsh

7.8m high tide, many species were hugging edge of marsh due to high tide making marsh a lake. There was a large number of peeps resting/sleeping in tall grass between gravel by marsh edge and the roadway. Oddly , very few birds on beach, it seems that the peeps have changed resting place.
Mudflats

Notes / Comments (Mudflats):
Lots of activity on the mudflats, over 1500 peeps, a good size number of larger shorebirds and we noted 1 peregrine harassing the peeps, a northern harrier constantly kicking up the peeps along the berm for the 1st 1 hour, and even had a sharp-shinned hawk make an appearance flying over the mudflats before entering Taylor Island.
