President
As President of the Saint John Naturalists Club, you’ll guide the direction of our nature-loving community. Elected for a one-year term (renewable up to 4 years), you’ll chair monthly meetings, help shape programs and projects, and work closely with the Executive Committee and Program Coordinator to keep everything running smoothly.
After your term, you’ll serve one year as Past President to support continuity.

Vice President
A key support role with leadership potential! The VP helps with coordination, fills in when the President is unavailable, and plays an active part in shaping club priorities. Great for someone who wants to grow into a leadership role.
The Vice-President of the Saint John Naturalists Club (SJNC) is elected for a one-year term during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and may serve a maximum of four consecutive years. After completing their term as Vice-President, they may then move on to become the Club’s President.
Program Committee Member
Do you have big ideas and a passion for sharing the wonders of nature? As a Program Committee Member, you’ll help shape the Saint John Naturalists Club’s monthly meetings, outings, workshops, and special events.
You’ll brainstorm guest speakers, events, and bring fresh ideas to the table. The Program Coordinator handles the logistics and promotion so you get to focus on the fun, creative side of things!

Shorebird Conservation & Education Project Member
Join a passionate team working to protect shorebirds and share their story with the public. As a committee member, you’ll help guide one of the Club’s newest and growing conservation efforts.
This flexible, advisory role is perfect for anyone interested in birds, outreach, or conservation strategy. You’ll meet just twice a year to brainstorm, offer feedback, and help shape the project’s direction. In between, you can contribute ideas, share resources, or assist with occasional outreach activities—whatever fits your schedule.

Set-Up & Tear-Down Crew (Monthly Meetings, Workshops & Other Events)
Help set up events and workshops, organize materials, or bring snacks. This behind-the-scenes role is perfect for those who want to help in simple, meaningful ways. This role helps prepare the space for our workshops as well as monthly club meetings, held the third Thursday of each month (September–May) from 7:00–8:30 PM at the Rockwood Park Interpretation Centre.
Tasks include setting up chairs and tables, organizing the welcome table, and putting things away after the meeting. We’re building a crew so volunteers can rotate. It’s a great way to support the club!
Hybrid/Zoom Tech Support (Monthly Meetings)
This volunteer ensures smooth hybrid setup for our monthly club meetings (third Thursday, September–May, 7:00–8:30 PM at the Rockwood Park Interpretation Centre). Responsibilities include setting up and managing the Zoom call, connecting audio/video equipment, sharing the presentation screen, and assisting with Q&A from remote attendees. Tech knowledge is a must, and reliability is key. We’re building a team to share the role. Training and support are available. We provide all gear.
Workshop Presenters
Do you have a nature-related skill, topic, or idea you’d like to share? We’re looking for volunteers to lead workshops for our club. Whether it’s birding basics, nature photography, plant ID, or another topic, we’d love to hear your idea. We’ll help with promotion, logistics, and developing your presentation.
Outing Leaders
We’re looking for volunteers to lead nature outings and field trips. Whether it’s a casual walk, a birding day, or a special destination. Leaders help choose the location, set the pace, welcome participants, and keep things running smoothly. You don’t need to be an expert but comfortable guiding a group and sharing your interest in nature. We’ll support you with promotion and logistics.
Casual Weekly Walk Leaders (May–September)
Help lead a casual Tuesday evening nature walk (6:30-8:00 PM, May–Sept). Leaders choose the location, greet the group, take attendance, and keep things moving. No expertise needed. Just bring your love of nature. Sign up for a walk using the link here.
