Weather: 5% cloud-cover from late morning to late afternoon, increasing to 50% after 4PM. Wind WNW to NW building to 20kmh. Rh 86% dropping to 50.Notes:
Hard to find anything for most of the day despite excellent conditions including some scattered clouds providing a good backdrop and having several people helping spot the birds. Surprisingly few birds came in to ride updrafts. It was one of those unusual days. Sites in the state of Maine also reported relatively light movement for the conditions. Most birds were either distant and/or high today. A notable spike in movement was detected after 4PM, producing more than 1/3 of the hawks seen this day. Maybe tomorrow will be busier.
Highlights: The hawks tended to be distant and/or high. Even so, we had some good viewing here and there.
Birds going for the decoy: Merlin (twice), Sharp-shinned Hawk
Raptor interactions: American Kestrel and Broad-wingedHawk, Broad-winged Hawk and Broad-winged Hawk, Bald Eagle and Osprey (aggressor listed first)
Non-raptors: Pretty quiet
Tomorrow: Forecasts suggest very good conditions.
