Susanne Bonnell joined me at the boardwalk and stayed with me for the afternoon. We met a family at the boardwalk, the father was a school teacher and is interested in having his class (I think he said grade 6) coming out and participating and learning about the shorebirds in Sept. I didn’t have any contact cards for the nature club but suggested he go online or on FB and look up Nature Saint John and contact Julie.
East Beach

Peregrine Falcon kept kicking up the Peeps , there was a large flock close to center beach where the large log is positioned. We had a Piping Plover down closer to the gated parking lot near Taylor Island, the root mass drift log was close to this location. We also saw a Western Sandpiper sitting with the Semipalmated Sandpipers near center cobble.

The Northern Harrier was persistant at chasing up the peeps all along the river.

Notes / Comments (Mudflats):
I started off at the Mudflats since high tide was 6:30pm and sunset was at 8pm. The Peregrine Falcon kept the peeps in the air often.
Overall Report Comments or Notes:
The position of the cobble on the beach seems to be keeping most people from walking the length of the beach. Most people seem to be staying close to the parking lots and dog walkers seem to be using the East Beach most often.
